“Auditing Federal IT Systems”
Speaker: Glenn Gargan
Event Description:
Are you looking for a New Year's resolution that includes drama, suspense, and even a bit of PG rated romance? Not to worry, our chapter has you covered as we kick-off another exciting year and conclude our journey in the final session of our 4-part IT series loosely entitled, "Accounting in the Information Age." Glenn will have you spell-bound with his true-to-life IT experiences that set him apart as a recognized expert. In fact, IT public sector auditors around the world have benefited from his insights and knowledge as he's helped them develop audit plans and programs unlike any seen or used in the industry.

Glenn's approach is simple; he first identifies four major challenges for IT auditing in the public sector which are: External Threats or Government Initiatives; Diffused authorities and responsibilities; Information security weaknesses; and Systems development methodologies. He then identifies nine critical success factors that should exist to keep IT systems on budget and on track. Lastly, he will walk us through an actual case study that involved criminal prosecutions and sad to say, financial and reputational loss to some innocent people.

Brave the cold and start the year off right with a resolution to continue learning through our Chapter meetings (in a fun way of course) all that you need to know in order to best succeed in today's ever-evolving Information Age!
